I would have to disagree with you there. The fundamental "problem" with
users switching from another platform (as I see it) is not software
related, but the new users perception. Put quite simply, Linux is NOT
Windows. Quite often there is a lot of work put into hiding this from
new users, which IMO does more harm than good. At the end of the day,
new users still need to wrap their heads around stuff like jack, because
it plays an important role in the flow of work. There is nothing on the
Windows side that they can compare this to, so they will still need to
change how they think about completing a given project. This is still
different from needing to know the technical details of how jack works,
I do not expect everyone to be able to read the source code, but it is
important that they know how to use it.
What has continuously impressed me with this project (and Agnula/DeMuDi
before it) was that I could get to work quickly, without needing to
worry about a low latency kernel or getting jack to work. These are the
important things that need to work, "out of the box". UbuntuStudio may
be more friendly to new users, but it is not yet comparable to 64studio
in terms of getting the work done.

Never used it so I cannot comment on this. I also do not have a problem
with the "price tag". You pay one way or another, either with the time
to figure things out on your own, or you pay for someone else's time.
