I haven't tried any of the Dell workstations, but if you can get access
to one before you buy, you could try a 64 Studio Live disc on it:

Until we have builders for this kind of system as partners, building
your own is still the best way to ensure good compatibility. I'd be
interested to hear people's recommendations for Linux-specialist system
builders in their own country.
Are you still based in LA, Brian? We can probably hook you up with a
system builder in the USA.

There have been a few people reporting attempted installations on Mac
Book Pros. They're hard for us to support properly because we don't own
any, not to mention Apple's non-standard way of making PCs. Personally,
we use HP notebooks. HP is the only volume PC maker with significant
support for the Debian project.
