Perhaps a DSSI sub-folder would be the answer?

AFA icons are concerned. It's all a question of someone designing an 
appropriate icon, clearing it with upstream and sending the patch as a 
bugreport to the relevant debian package.

If anyone comes up with a suitable design (SVG format preferred) I'd be 
happy to help interface with upstream and Debian as I'm familiar with 
the process.
