The latest version (2.1) works well, and it used to be available in the 
64studio backports-etch repository.  It is gone now, however I still 
have the files in a local repository I made for quick upgrades of 
machines a while back, and it installs and runs without any problems - 
given you followed the tips in the guide (see below)

I started a video project a week ago, and installed it from my repo, but 
reading a post on the cinelerra install guide 
http://www.64studio.com/howto_cinelerra prompted me to look.
Perhaps we can just add it back?
