On the command line:

$ normalize -bv *.wav

will list RMS average and peak dBFS values.

It's OK to use tools like this for analysis, but it's best to trust your 
ears when using JAMin. Sometimes you want to make a track quieter than 
the maximum possible subjective loudness, in order to make it fit with 
the other music on the CD.
