Hi Gustin,

 I have installed with your suggestion "default boot options" twice this 
morning, both returned the failed [Debian Automatic Printer Configuration].
It makes no difference if the printer port is 'enabled' or 'disabled' in 
the Bios.

(acpi=off noapic) gives me a better irq set, I have tried many times to 
get my sound card on a lower irq as suggested in the manual (64studio), 
but changing the cards in the slots just won't give me the lower 
options, without sharing irq's.
 acpi=off noapic certainly helps...

Default boot options were worth trying.
