Is that a dual-core Turion CPU by any chance? Ben Loftis had the same 
problem with the 2.6.21 kernel on his laptop, but we were unable to 
reproduce it here.

See http://kerneltrap.org/node/8306 for a possible fix. Before you 
change anything, try just leaving the laptop for five minutes to see if 
it unfreezes by itself.
