here's a new kernel with the old firewire stack:

I hope that it solves the issue. From menuconfig:

"If you install both, you should configure them only as
modules rather than link them statically, and you should blacklist one

blacklist firewire-ohci

or the other

blacklist ohci1394

in /etc/modprobe.conf
