It could simply have been that the third-party site was down. I just 
tried an:

$ wget http://boredklink.googlepages.com/wl_apsta.o

and it came back with a 404 Not Found. This package seems to rely on 
firmware stored on someone's personal homepage, which is not very robust.

Hmmm, do you have the package installed on that machine? Does it have 
the firmware downloaded? (Maybe later versions use a different firmware 
URL, or maybe your network was not active on that machine at that point 
in the install).

True, but it can also break an upgrade, as in Nate's case. At least I 
think we should move it out of the base task and into the laptop task.
