Hello Free
I've been in contact with Fons Adriaensen, there are no bugs currently
recorded and he could see no reason why it would not work. He did however
point me to his library many of his projects use.
So, I've now debugged my home-compiled version of aeolus this evening (which
also locks up in alsa mode).
I think I have found my problem.
1. traced to the line in audio.cc where it does this:
_alsa_handle = new Alsa_driver (device, fsamp, fsize, nfrag, true,
false, false);
2. As this calls Fons's alsa library, I went off to check my version - I am
building against clalsadrv-1.1.0
3. I went to check latest versions, and I've now noticed that Fons has
released a newer version 1.2.2
I downloaded the latest version from here
http://www.kokkinizita.net/linuxaudio/downloads/index.html
The webpage shows 1.1.0 as a dependency, but since 1.1.0 isn't there any
more, I think this is just a typo.
The good news is that I now have aeolus starting under alsa without locking
up.
Taking a quick look in debian/unstable, it appears that the 64studio package
is also built against the old 1.1.0 version - (see
http://packages.debian.org/cgi-bin/search_contents.pl?searchmode=filelist&word=libclalsadrv1&version=unstable&arch=amd64)
Fingers crossed, building the 64studio version against the latest clalsadrv
library version 1.2.2 should solve the hard lockup problem.
Hope this helps
Steve~
