[64studio-devel] Apt Question

Hi All,

If this is not something specific to 64 Studio, can someone point me to
something which explains my problems with apt?

I've used Debian before and no trouble, and have added other archives to
my sources.list file. But currently, there is nothing in my sources.list
file, other than comments. And I haven't been able to upgrade, even
though I've wanted to.

Sorry if this is a silly question, but I've never seen an
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/ directory before, nor have I ever heard about
it. I've seen other directories named something.d, but I've never messed
with them. Hmmm, while I'm asking, what's the .d for? Is this a standard?

My /etc/apt/sources.list.d/64studio.list file contains:

# Stable 64 Studio repository
# deb http://apt.64studio.com/64studio/stable/ 64studio main

# Bleeding edge 64 Studio repository, only for testers!
deb http://apt.64studio.com/64studio/testing/ 64studio main

# Security updates
deb http://security.debian.org/ etch/updates main

# Debian etch
deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ etch main contrib non-free

#Debian unstable # I needed this to get something to make flash work
# deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ unstable main contrib non-free

And my (autogenerated by the install) /etc/apt/preferences file contains:

Package: *
Pin: release l=Debian
Pin-Priority: 501

Package: *
Pin: release l=Debian-Security
Pin-Priority: 1001

Package: *
Pin: release o=64Studio
Pin-Priority: 1001

Thanks for any help,

-Susan
