On an individual studio level, you've got two options at the moment -
download free software you need from http://www.debian-multimedia.org/
and a few other places, or buy proprietary, licensed Gstreamer plugins
from https://shop.fluendo.com/

Patent enforcement is unlikely against individual end users, although
not impossible, so users concerned about possible legal implications
should go for the Fluendo option. Because 64 Studio Ltd. is a commercial
company working on hardware products for OEMs, we have to be much more
careful than the typical end user.

What kinds of formats are they having trouble with? This would be very
useful for us to know.

Cheers!

Daniel
