vsn 1.3 will install on my Lenovo 3000 N100 laptop using on board DVD

I reported previously that with vs 1.0 and vsn 1.2 I had to install 
64studio 32bit to my Lenovo 3000 N100 using an external USB cdrom drive 
because during installation the internal DVD writer was not recognised.
With vsn 1.3 however it gets recognised fine and the install is quick 
and trouble free. Well done!!!
I would love to know whats changed to cause this.
I thought the trouble was because the internal DVD writer was on some 
sort of SCSI bus as is my hard drive, wireless network card, and 
internal soundcard. (Partitions show up as sda1,2,3,etc. not hda1,2,3 etc.)
I hoped that the failure of both sound and built in wireless network 
connection was for same reason and would then work OK with vsn 1.3.
Unfortunately they still don't work with vsn 1.3 .
I have to run alsaconfig following each time I boot for sound to work at 
all I am yet to try qsynth etc.

Sorry about the different issues raised in one posting only they all 
relate to it being a laptop.
