Is this not /etc/modprobe.conf /etc/modprobe.conf.local
/etc/modprobe.d/... ?
Whereby /etc/modprobe.conf is overwritten on updates and thus the users
options can be placed in /etc/modprobe.conf.local but more commonly
stored in /etc/modprobe.d/...
