We haven't tested that specific notebook, but the CPU is supported by 
the Linux kernel in SMP mode, see item no. 5 here:

However not all of the T60p's described have the same CPU as yours.

For any new notebook, I would recommend shrinking the Windows partition 
down to about 10GB, rather than deleting it. There may be some features 
of the notebook that can only be enabled/disabled from within Windows 
itself.
