Ok, when you added the experimental repos, the ardour2-gtk-dpg package
became visible, but not the rest. This is because the ardour main
packages in experimental is set with lower priority, but this is not a
problem:
1. Select the ardour-gtk package in Synaptic.
2. Click <Package> ==> <Force Version> or press <Ctrl>-E
(for the very efficient)
3. Select the version you want in the drop down list in the dialog
that appears and click <Force Version>
4. When you now select all the other Ardour2 related packages and
Apply your changes, you should be the proud new user of the latest
released Ardour2 installment.
Note however!!!
1. MAKE BACKUPS OF YOUR STUFF - Ardour2 still has a few bugs hidden
in the works. This is why we are testing it for Paul and the
other guys. Why you have to backup is that if you find a bug that
limits your work flow (as the one that messes up the generic midi
controller) then you have to go back to ardour 0.99.x.
2. _/*Ardour is NOT backwards compatible.*/_ Your Ardour2 project
will then have to wait for the bug fix.
Hope this helps.
I found Ardour2 very nice, and I anxiously await the bug fix for the
midi controller!
