Ardour has Midi transport and control, but not Midi music support 
(yet).  This is one of the biggest requests for the Google Summer of 
Code project this year... We'll see if that happens though.  Ardour is 
an excellent HDR (hard disk recorder) and DAW.  It uses jack clients 
(like Rosegarden) to do the midi stuff.

Ardour 2beta12 is in the experimental debian repository.

add the following line to your sources.list file:

deb     http://ftp.debian.org/debian     experimental     main

Then do apt-get update.

You should be able to install ardour2 then.
