[64studio-devel] ATI not configuring at fresh install

[mmmmna]

ECS RC410L/800M mainboard, onboard ATI Radeon Xpress 200 graphics.

Installed 1.2.0, after rebooting, user cannot change screen from
640x480 by using ctrl-alt-plus or ctrl-alt-minus.

My xorg.conf from /etc/X11/:

A question comes to mind....
After rebooting a fresh install, is root supposed to configure
something? Anything? What things? How? Some other distros have taught
me to trust their installer to get things done at installation time,
but I have heard hints that Debian is different.
