_Install on Laptop does not find internal DVD drive workaround.

Lenovo 3000 N100
_
I got around this problem by using an external USB2 CD Drive.

I started with the install CD (version 1.0) in the internal drive and
when the install says it can't find an optical drive, just ask to
continue anyway without doing anything else.
You eventually get back to a list of the setup stages and that is when
you plug the USB CD drive in, and swop the CD from the internal drive to
the external drive and ask it to continue.
It will search for and find the external drive and install OK from there.
On bootup after installation it recognises the internal drive.

NB. I also tried to install directly from the external drive (my bios
allowed me to choose it) but it didn't work.

NB2. It also didn't work if I had two copies of the installation CD (one
in each of the drives and the external drive plugged in right from the
start).

Hope this helps someone understand the problem.

cheers to all
