ALSA did not have a usable device enumeration API until very recently
(1.0.13 or 1.0.14-rc*) so qjackctl only listed hw devices.

The problem is solved in recent ALSA versions, but qjackctl needs to
be updated to use it.

In the meantime you can just type the name of your device into the
field in qjackctl.  I don't know if it's a qjackctl or QT issue but I
also found this surprising.
