The jack-ified gstreamer is interesting for me:

I can now use rhythmbox to play CD's, now I can play along in Real-time 
using one of the many 64 studio synths. :)

I guess there are other possibilities to be able to equalise or effects 
process music files during playback and in genuine real-time. (Only issue is 
that Rhythymbox drops the gstreamer connection each track, so jack has to be 
reconnected).
