yes, backporting helps, at least for individual tools. and I'll see how I will come along,
at least for the nearer future. Of course, at some point I will need to switch to, say
python 2.5 or need the newest version of some codecs -- let's hope this doesn't happen
so soon :-)

good to know how you plan to handle this. Basically, I agree with you: the reason why
I prefere 64Studio is to have a reliable platform for media work (and not to have to
fight package dependencies). I will see if we can get a bit more moderate Aproach
at leas for the Cinelerra developement (as it's often a pain for the users to get
it compiled at all, and Unstable just adds to all of this).
