[64studio-devel] Macbook issues, have they been addressed?

G'day,

Having searched a bit on the list archive, it appears someone has
already tried putting 64 Studio 1.0 on their macbook (2nd gen) with not
a great deal of success.

I did try the same a while back with 1.0, and found that the sound did
not work (alsa found it, the device was there, no channels muted, just
no audio being produced on either the internal speaker or the headphones
out), and I was wondering if anyone has either investigated this
further? If not I'll try putting it back on my system and giving it a try.

Currently it's not the most straightforward install, as you need to
install rEFIt on your mac partition, and then when the 64 Studio
installer is up to the point where it installs grub, you stop it (it
will fail anyway), and go to another terminal, make sure you have debian
repository, and install LILO (but not to the mbr). Is there a plan to
make this a little easier? Ubuntustudio has the same install problem,
but I didn't seem to have any issue with Ubuntu 7.04 vanilla (which is
currently installed), indicating that the problem *can* be solved, I'm
just curious how they managed it.

Given the latest 64 studio is running a more recent kernel I'll give it
a try soon anyway just to see if that solves the sound card issue,
however if you're after ease of use/install then it may be worth
investigating the addition of lilo if you want to expand your userbase
to mac users in a real way.

Cheers
Peter
