you guys ARE doing an exceptionally great job; but-well, you asked for it ;-] so here goes:
i have been experiencing some strange behavior running the newest kernel with the newest nvidia
driver.
firstly i noted that the port 'eth1' has been using between 2 and 4 %cpu *constantly* without any
type of interaction or program causing any normal usage. [this wasn't happening prior]
secondly- while running jack, and browsing through some web pages that include flash and
misc.images, at some point the files [flash/images] stop loading and the browser locks up from any
further communication- the only action possible is 'back' to a previous page, without loading
anything new. i also have tried to open a file browser and some programs during this 'lockup' and
the programs never begin to run. oddly, they do end up popping in and running about 5 minutes
later. some programs do open right away such as gnome text editor and the console/shell.
-shutting down jack doesn't help, the eth1 port doesn't allow anything to connect, and some
programs still cease to run, until ~5 min later.
and lastly- upon system shutdown, the whole process is much slower and delayed. it hangs on
'stopping portmap daemon....' for quite a long time[more than 5 min.], and then eventually shuts
down.
i should note that this also happens when *not* running jack, and with *all* browsers i have tried
[firefox-32bit, konqueror, and iceweasel/firefox]
hope this helps! let me know if any more info. is needed
