Unfortunately it's still there, there haven't been any new Hydrogen 
releases for a while.

Have a look in View -> Show Pattern Editor, you should see them there. 
The worst aspect of this bug is not in the pattern editor, it is that if 
you trigger Hydrogen with an external MIDI controller and hit a key 
mapped to an empty instrument slot, Hydrogen will bomb immediately.
