The Echo cards require a specialised mixer, as do most of the cards with 
more than basic 'desktop audio' functionality. This mixer should already 
be installed on a 64 Studio system. Try this command, in a terminal:

echomixer

We don't currently have an icon for this mixer on the Sound & Video 
menu, because we didn't have any Echo cards to test it with. Please let 
us know if it works fine with your Layla, and if so, we can add an icon.
