So you're expecting a smooth waveform at 1KHz like in the right-side 
picture, but the 64 Studio picture shows a jagged waveform, as well as a 
big lump of sub-sonic energy down to 0Hz.

I wonder if the fact that your Mandriva box is i386 is what's making the 
difference. Could you try the i386 build of 64 Studio on your 32-bit 
machine please?
