Open a root terminal and edit the following file /boot/grub/menu.lst
At the very end you'll find the boot entries which specify which kernel
to load with which parameters. On this Ubuntu laptop a typical entry
would be:
title Ubuntu, kernel 2.6.20-16-386
root (hd0,0)
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.20-16-386 ro quiet splash
initrd initrd.img-2.6.20-16-386
savedefault
Find your main kernel in that list and change its parameters to reflect
the following:
splash=nosplash
e.g.
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.20-16-386 ro quiet splash=nosplash
>From now on there will be no splash screen and you should see all boot
messages.
