[64studio-devel] New user - install fails at configuring gnome-applets

That sounds like faulty install media. Please check the iso image you 
downloaded against the md5sum on the website, and if that's OK, then 
it's probably the case that something went wrong when you burned the CD. 
Try a slower burning speed (say 4x) and verify the burned disc against 
the iso. Some CD burning programs can do this automatically (such as k3b).

I'll admit that's not a feature we've paid a lot of attention to, as the 
Debian installer is pretty solid. However, any live Linux distro should 
allow you to rescue personal data from a disc with an incomplete 
installation.
