[64studio-devel] install with sata dvdrom

First off hello to the list and thanks for putting together the 64
studio release. I hope to make much use of it soon....

Forgive my noobity but I have made a significant search for a solution
to my problem to the point where I think I understand the problem, just
not the solution.

On trying to install 64studio 1.0.0 the debian installer just cannot
find my cd-rom (dvd ram actually) when autodetecting devices. This
appears to be because it's SATA along with my HD (which I also think
isn't working w.r.t. the install). Poking around in the shell, dmesg
tells me:

ide0: I/O resource 0x1f0-0x1f7 not free.
ide0: ports already in use, skipping probe.
(same for ide1)

From what I've read this is because the sata drivers are being loaded
before the ide drivers and mucking up the autodetection. Most of the
workarounds that I've found deal with changing the order for the
installation, but once fully booted, the problem will persist. Can
someone direct as to my best course of action in getting 64studio installed?

My laptop is an asus a8js

Thanks,
