[64studio-devel] More regarding Studio 64 on a macbook

Hi all,

Because I couldn't get the network working with the 64 bit kernel, I
tried the 32 bit installer as there are debian packages for madwifi
to get the wireless going and refit to help with the booting process.

When I try and install the madwifi packages using the modules
assistant, however, it fails, complaining that the kernel was
compiled with gcc-4.0. I can't seem to get a gcc-4.0 in debian
testing though.

Bottom line I want to get networking up as first priority. Any other
clues as to how I might get another kernel running? 2.6.16 with the
installer recognises the network cards fine - 2.6.17 recognises the
ethernet card, but fails. At the moment what I can do is boot with
the installer CD in rescue mode, then chroot to /target and apt-get
stuff from there. Could I try the apt-getting the 64 studio packages
from the apt.studio64.com repository perhaps with an apt-get dist-
upgrade?

Thanks,

Denis
