I had to change change the owner group of my secondary HDD to "audio".
From then on I had realtime full access to that HDD. For me, the
easiest way to organise this is to run nautilus (the file manager) as
root. Open a root terminal window, and then just type nautilus. You
can then change the properties of any folder. Check out the folder
settings for your home folder, and use that - if only you are going to
use the PC, or use the audio group.
