I joined and searched the RME newsgroup (instructions regarding the
newsgroup are @ the RME website;
http://www.rme-audio.com/english/info/newsgrp.htm).

After 40 minutes of searching that newsgroup, I've learned that the
ALSA drivers were submitted in 2003, and there is sporadic newsgroup
activity (problems and solutions) up to Feb 17, 2007.
