For me, networking works out-of-the-box with 64 Studio.

It's dependent on your network interface card. If it's well supported in 
Linux, it'll work without effort (other than configuring TCP/IP, unless 
you have a DHCP server).

Security is a personal thing. Debian is pretty good for security, and 64 
Studio inherits this, but if you're behind an ADSL router/firewall then 
I personally don't even worry.  Just don't run IRC clients as root, and 
stuff like that.
