In theory we could support these machines, but in practice there are 
likely to be some problems with driver support for the time being. I 
know Denis Crowdy has been installing 64 Studio on a MacBook, but he 
couldn't get the on-board sound or networking working properly. Perhaps 
you two should compare notes :-)

First, I would recommend using the 1.1.1 development release rather than 
the 1.0 stable release, as the latter has an older kernel. You can find 
1.1.1 here:

You need to use the .amd64.iso build. AMD invented the 64-bit extensions 
to x86, inspired in part by the DEC Alpha architecture. When Intel 
started shipping their implementation of AMD64, they gave it one name 
after another, none of which included the letters 'amd'. They currently 
call it Intel64, which is pretty lame of them - but then AMD used to 
follow Intel designs, back in the 90's.
