The latest kernel (2.6.19-1-multimedia-amd64) is a dual purpose kernel, 
on recommendation of the Debian and kernel-devel teams.  A single core 
machine would be a multi core machine with 1 core...  thus no more 
dedicated single or SMP kernel anymore.  It is in reality a SMP kernel 
that can do single...

This makes it much easier for the distro packagers, because we have a 
one size fits all again.

I take it you have a AMDx2 machine?  Does TOP report 2 cores?  (press 1 
during the run)  The 2 or more cores will be displayed separately.

You should also see the following output for uname -a

uname -a
Linux 64studio 2.6.19-1-multimedia-amd64 #1 SMP PREEMPT .........
