[64studio-devel] possible regression?

Hello!

I had been running the 1.40 branch on my nvidia based asus m2npv-vm
system, and was pretty happy with things.  There were two oddities (eth1
would bounce on boot for a while until dhcp got a lease and then it
worked great) and the nvidia binary driver didn't work quite like it was
supposed to, but a workaround was in place and all was well.

Recently I decided to do some housecleaning and attempted to rebuild
from a 2.0 dvd.  The machine boots and is pretty happy with the stock nv
driver, but nv doesn't support 3d so well, nor is twinview an option
(required for job at hand).

My first attempts were with the 9755-based nvidia package, but on
booting that yielded a hard-locked machine at X start.

I tried the updated 100.14.11 (latest) driver from nvidia with a fresh
install with the same results.

Building the machine from the 1.0 cd I had around (yeah, still!) I was
able to install and compile the 100.14.11 nvidia driver and have it
working with a known good xorg.conf.

To make sure it wasn't something I was missing, I re-installed the 2.0,
ran synaptic to get all the upgrades (all repos but testing) and tried
the 9755 deb (hard lock) and then the 100.14.11 (another hard lock).

Is anyone else seeing this behavior?  Is this a known issue?

Any pointers/ideas are welcomed -
