If it boots properly with Ubuntu then I'd consider it a 64 Studio bug, 
no need to buy a new motherboard yet. I'm sorry to hear that buying a 
PATA drive did not help.

Of course Ubuntu does not ship a realtime kernel, but I doubt this is 
related to your problem. I'm inclined to think it's a side-effect of the 
earlier fixes we made for SATA support. I'll go through your earlier 
mails and see if we can narrow down the problem to a specific chipset.
