I think if people are trying to use older computers, and they really 
can't afford a DVD burner, there's a case for a CD-R install. Certainly, 
the Live CD has proved much more popular than I thought it would be.

It's hard to tell if people are choosing the live version because 
they're just curious, and don't want a hard disc install in case they 
screw up an existing installation, or if they don't have a DVD burner. 
I'll start a poll on the website to try and find out.

Free, what do you think of using the Live CD package list to create a 
2.0 install image of around 600MB? This would still leave room for a 
small demo Ardour project on both the live and minimal discs.
