 The problem I was having with my USB IRQ conflict may be related to this.
 I fixed this by disabling acpi for now. 2.6.22 _seems_ to be handling this
 sort of hardware conflict better. I'm not clear as to the root cause of
 these lockups and as they appear to be corner-cases, surely they will need
 to be evaluated case-by-case over time?
