The main reason we didn't include it before was that it was buggy on 
AMD64. If someone who knows Pd well could give our backported package a 
good workout on a 64-bit CPU and confirm that it's OK, we could consider 
this package for the 2.1 release.

As for installing by default, I personally thought Pd was too hard for 
newbies to grasp. Then I met some multimedia artists who had taken the 
time to learn Pd from scratch, because they could see that they could do 
things with it that no proprietary app would allow.
