With Ardour2's stable release around the corner, I think they'll wait 
for it to be released in the next few weeks or so.  I might be wrong...

It is quite easy to compile and install from source using scons.  Just 
keep your eye on the output to add any required packages as you go 
along.  They have an easy to follow installer guide on http://ardour.org
