Hi Mike,

We will keep on building 32-bit x86 distros while there is still a
significant demand for them. I expect this to be for quite a few years,
not so much because of workstations and laptops, but because of
low-power embedded devices.

For example, we are currently working on a custom distro for Trinity
Audio Group, whose mobile products use 32-bit x86 compatible processors,
like the AMD Geode: http://www.trinityaudiogroup.com/

This is the same CPU as used in the One Laptop Per Child project, and of
course Via make a range of low-power 32-bit products too, like the
PicoITX boards:
http://www.via.com.tw/en/initiatives/spearhead/pico-itx/

So if you're using older PC hardware, you'll be able to take advantage
of the work that's being done to run contemporary free software in these
resource-constrained mobile environments.

Cheers!

Daniel
