The python script that Free created for DeMuDi was quite effective in 
that it worked on the central Debian menu system. I would understand if 
Free has more elegant ideas now - so long as the solution fits with the 
FHS it will be fine.

The idea of a script in /etc/menu/ which could be copied to ~/.menu/ and 
customised per user would be favourite.
