[64studio-devel] sata raid question

Hi, I'm really excited about 64 Studio - the install went well but I can't
see my raid array...

I've got a lot of things to get my head around, so please bear with me! At
the moment i can't see any of my NTFS drives, but that's not so important
right now because i'd like to get the raid array working first before i get
the chance to change any files!

My system:

3.2 GB IDE drive for 64 Studio (just for testing at this stage) (EXT3)
80 GB SATA drive for winxp (NTFS)
2x 160 GB SATA RAID array for recordings (NTFS)
Winfast K8S 755A series m/board with AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2.2 GHz

This has a SiS964 (Silicon Systems) 3112A RAID controller chipset

Now I have seen a page on enabling this chipset family
http://unclean.org/howto/sii3114_linux.html
http://unclean.org/howto/sii3114_linux.html
but i've also seen reports that these drivers have been incorporated into
the new kernel and also that people have had trouble with the sata_sil
driver...

Probably the fix is easier than it seems (i.e. not having to recompile the
kernel - great learning curve though!!) I'll admit I'm trying to run before
i can walk - i haven't even figured out how to download packages yet, but
only 'cos i don't know which ones I need!!

I have empty files where my device settings should be. What should I do?

Cheers for the advice!
