Thanks for the feedback :-)

Did you use nVidia's tarball, or one of the unofficial Debian packages?

Yes indeed. You can add a line to /etc/apt/sources.list like:
deb ftp://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian/ testing main
where 'uk' is your nearest Debian mirror. Then do an apt-get update
followed by apt-get install packagename. (Or you can use Synaptic of
course).
I wouldn't recommend doing an apt-get dist-upgrade against Debian
testing, unless you actually want to follow testing.
As for 64 Studio being out of sync with testing, that has started to
happen as we have gone into feature freeze for the 1.0 release. It may
be that we recommend people to use snapshot.debian.net if they don't
want to follow testing, after our 1.0 release - what do you think about
that, Free?

It's not a top priority for us at the moment, although I can see it
would be of benefit for users with recent 32-bit machines.

You'd be most welcome to. If you are able to build Debian packages,
please let us know. We could make your i686 kernel package available
to other 32-bit users who might need it.
Cheers!
Daniel
