Thanks for double-checking that, it's what I saw too.

Yes, Free thinks the postinst scripts are making calls to the network, 
which for whatever reason is timing out at that stage of the install. 
Perhaps the solution is as simple as having the installer check and 
bring up the network if necessary, before we get to the package 
configuration stage.
