OK, I can confirm that the timeouts are absent in 0.9.3 but present in
0.9.4.

The other difference I noticed are 0.9.3 does not configure my network,
almost certainly related...

Just to let you know I am finally in a position to test this after
moving house and other stuff, and will do so tomorrow night - i.e.
confirm that the behaviour is present in 0.9.4 and test 0.9.3 too.
