I'm not sure why the symlink to the Jack library is expected to have a
number suffix - perhaps to prevent Jack apps from using an earlier (or
later) version of Jack. For example on this box I have:
/usr/lib/libjack-0.100.0.so.0 -> libjack-0.100.0.so.0.0.23
rather than the more conventional style:
/usr/lib/libjack.so.0 -> libjack-0.100.0.so.0.0.23
It does seem rather brittle.

Wrong version of the kernel headers maybe?

In fact, we do want to make the distro very suitable for developers.
Without them, we'd have nothing to package :-)
