What I take from Robert's reply on that ticket is that if the Jack 
package is built the Debian way, then Debian packages will work with it. 
In the meantime, you could check which versions of libjack are still on 
your system, and remove the old ones. You could still run into problems 
with the location of Jack's temporary directory though, so the debian 
build rules for jackd are here:

http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/j/jack-audio-connection-kit/jack-audio-connection-kit_0.101.1-1.diff.gz 


For example, I notice Debian uses:

--with-default-tmpdir=/dev/shm
